Who Can Take the PTCE
The PTCB has eligibility requirements that candidates must meet before taking the PTCE. These requirements are designed to ensure that candidates have a foundational level of education and training appropriate for pharmacy technician certification.
Education Requirements
Candidates must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Additionally, the PTCB requires completion of one of several pathways:
- Completion of a PTCB-recognized pharmacy technician education program
- Equivalent pharmacy-related experience or training as specified by the PTCB

Background Requirements
