Wake Up With Time to Spare
Set your alarm early enough to avoid rushing. A frantic morning sets a stressful tone for the entire exam. You should have time to eat, get ready, and travel to the testing center without feeling pressed for time.
Eat a Proper Breakfast
Your brain needs fuel to perform well on a timed exam. Eat a balanced breakfast with protein and complex carbohydrates. Avoid heavy, greasy foods that might cause discomfort and avoid excessive caffeine that could increase anxiety or cause jitteriness. If you do not normally eat breakfast, at least have a small snack.
Do Not Study
Resist the urge to cram on exam morning. Last-minute studying is more likely to create anxiety about what you do not know than to add useful knowledge. If you absolutely need to do something study-related, do a brief, casual review of a few flashcards you already know well. This builds confidence rather than adding stress.
Verify Your Supplies
- Identification matching your PTCB account name
- Scheduling confirmation
- Directions to the testing center
- Comfortable clothing
Arrive Early
Plan to arrive at the testing center 15 to 30 minutes before your scheduled time. This gives you a buffer for unexpected traffic, parking issues, or a longer-than-expected check-in process. Arriving with time to spare lets you settle in and mentally prepare rather than rushing to your seat.
Mental Preparation
During the drive or commute, remind yourself of your preparation. You have studied the material, taken practice exams, and built competence across all four domains. Trust that preparation and approach the exam with calm confidence. You have earned this moment through weeks of consistent effort.
